Sex differences in emotional focus

Researchers argue about why there are differences, but agree that men and women are different creatures when it comes to emotions. Stereotypes of how men and women should deal with their emotions permeate our culture and society, easily evoking images of overly withdrawn men and excitable, emotional women. Boys are told to be discreet; girls are told not to keep to themselves. But are there really gender differences between men and women, and if so, how do they affect our emotional focus?
