Abstract
Welding is a permanent joining process; if an irregularity or discontinuity occurs either it should be reworked or scrapped. To survive in this competitive world every company aspires to produce defects free products, but because of the defects company's production cost, production time is increasing and there may be a delay in delivery. In an off-highway vehicle parts manufacturing industry, it was observed that welding defects of Precision Machined Parts (PMP) are contributing approximately 17% and a loss of 22 lakhs per annum. It is focused to reduce the welding defects like incomplete fusion, blowholes, and overlapping of Precision Machined Parts using Seven Quality Control tools.
