Abstract
The term regional disparity is very common in developing and less developed countries. It opposed the development in any region. The development indicates the advancement of overall phenomena in any region. Regional disparities have occurred in the macro level region, while development is highly seen in the micro level region. The present study assesses the regional disparities in the level of socio economic development at the block level in Murshidabad district, were applying Kendall's Ranking Coefficient Index method to analyze the secondary data. A total of 26 blocks of the study area has been included in the study. To show the picture of regional disparities of socio economic development 26 indicators are identified which are divided into three major groups such as social related indicators, economic related indicators, and demographic related indicators. For taking about equal regional development and improving all essential quality, potential targets for various social and economic amenities have been estimated. The present work suggests that the low developed blocks require improvement of overall socio economic development in the study area.
