Abstract
Prevention can be considered as one of the basic strategies in the field of social control, which includes a set of direct and indirect solutions formulated with the aim of creating facilities and situations to prevent the occurrence of crime and deviance. Situational prevention is one type of prevention that aims to increase the cost of committing a criminal act for the perpetrator than its profit, assuming that humans are careful and they measure the profit and loss of their actions. In this view, crime is predictable, and regardless of what factor the perpetrator is affected by, the occurrence of a crime can be prevented and neutralized by reducing the opportunities to commit the crime and its objectives using physical (material) methods or changing and controlling appropriate situations for committing the crime. In this way, entering the complex field of a series of various human and social factors of crime, their analysis and dealing with them are avoided. In short, this type of prevention hinders the cost of the process of transition from thought to action, but it has its own obstacles and limitations.
