Abstract
In machining industries tooling cost plays major role in manufacturing cost of materials. HSS, HCHCR normally used in machining soft material and CBN, Diamond has been used in the machining hard material that involves more cost in machining. In order to reduce the tooling cost cutting inserts of various material such as HSS, CBN etc. has been introduced even HSS tools may appropriate for machining all materials and wear rate is more. In this project effect has been made to design and manufacturing of composite cutting inserts that is suitable for cutting hard materials with low wear rate. Design is to be done in the Pro-E and analysis part in the ANSYS-12 package (software) to make the design optimized manner with optimized wear rate and fabricating the coated inserts by the suitable techniques and testing is to be done to check the optimized parameters.
