Abstract
Steel ball-rubber isolation bearings have been implemented for the first time in the field of basic insolation techniques to improve in-ground structural seismic resistance properties. Yet its use is not extensively investigated in underground systems. A series of shaking table tests investigate the reliability of insulation bearings attached to the feet of the intermediate structural columns in the substructure system, usually called as pedestal columns during seismic behaviour. The focus of this research is on identifying the performance of insulation systems for ball rubber bearings compared to similar structure response without ball rubber bearings and also structure response only with rubber as an insulation system. The rubber ball bearing, which Ended in a curved shape at the base column and holds this rubber ball above it. The design is predominantly for residential buildings of maximum G+2. The load acting on the substructure is high, then the size of the structure; the diameter of the ball would rise accordingly.
