Abstract
All researchers determined that the majority of chronic non-infectious diseases of internal organs have a tendency to form at young age. Among young people, a special place belongs to students. The young age of this contingent, high hormonal levels, the absence of an orderly lifestyle both in relation to the timely food intake, the quantity and its quality, as well as lack of sleep at the peak of stressful situations (session, test classes, etc.), viral infections with significant accumulation students are those points that contribute to the spread and chronic diseases. From this position, diseases of the digestive tract should be regarded as quite frequent, which occur in conditions of autoimmune inflammation. Among the most common diseases of the gastrointestinal tract recognize gastroesophageal reflux disease. Several large studies have shown that up to 40-50% of the adult population in the world have gastroesophageal reflux disease. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of gastroesophageal reflux disease occurring against the background of autoimmune thyroiditis on the quality of life of young patients. Material and methods. The study of quality of life using Medical Outcomes Study 36-Item Short-Form Health Status was conducted in 69 patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease and autoimmune thyroiditis and 25 patients with isolated gastroesophageal reflux disease. It was shown that gastroesophageal reflux disease and autoimmune thyroiditis occured on the background of changes in the psychological and physical components of health. However, the majority of scales have not established significant changes between groups of patients. At the same time, the assessment on the “general health” scale showed significant changes in patients with comorbidity of gastroesophageal reflux disease and autoimmune thyroiditis. Conclusions. The obtained results proved that gastroesophageal reflux disease and autoimmune thyroiditis occur on the background of changes in the psychological and physical components of health. However, the majority of scales did not establish significant changes between groups of patients. At the same time, assessing on the “general health” scale showed significant changes in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease and autoimmune thyroiditis. The lack of significant changes between groups of patients may be the result of the participation of a special contingent of examined (students), young age of patients and a short history of the disease.
