Abstract
This paper present the effect of welding repairs on the quality of 304H stainless steel welding joint. The joint weld internal defect could generate a cost to be repaired; however these repairs could affect the weld joint mechanical proprieties and metallurgical structure. Hereafter a study that allowed to determinate the real effect of the weld repairs succession in the weld joint quality. Many Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) as dye penetrant inspection and radiography tests, were performed on the welded metals to ensure the surface and internal defects exemption, in otherwise the soundness of the welds based especially on the tensile and bending tests results. Macrographic examination and scanning electron microscope are used to discover the metallic structure of the weld joint of the stainless steel used. All the examinations and tests showed exemption of the defects weld and respect all American society for testing and materials (ASTM) specifications.
