Abstract

Natural raw materials have always been in demand among the population due to their properties. The expansion of the domestic market of natural fibrous raw materials is promising due to new types of raw materials of plant origin, the production of which requires minimal resources and energy consumption. One such type of natural fibre plant material is tall stem bast crops. The most common tall stem bast crops are hemp, kenaf, and jute, which were previously cultivated in Ukraine. The development of the raw material base in our country does not keep up with the growing needs of processing industries using natural plant fibre raw materials. The article also states that bast crops are a traditional and promising type of industrial crops for our country. Therefore, it is advisable to grow high stem bast crops in Ukraine. These include hemp, kenaf, and jute. The purpose of the study is to review the design of combines and the development of equipment to improve the process of harvesting high stem bast crops. The main research method in the article was the analysis of literary and other sources of scientific and technical information. Thus, the articles analyze the design of combines for harvesting high-stem bast crops. In particular, their structure is described, their disadvantages and advantages are defined. It is noted that the analysis of designs of combines for harvesting high stem crops allows us to determine the most suitable structures for natural and climatic conditions of Ukraine, and, accordingly, to mechanize the process of harvesting these crops. Most designs of bast harvesters have the same structure, but some designs are significantly different, so they provide high quality bast and have minimal impact on the environment. In addition, some harvester designs have a high level of process automation.
