Abstract
Precision Agriculture combines control systems, electronics, computer, database and accounting information into an advanced system approach. The main purpose of Precision Agriculture practices in dairy cattle is to take advantage of the individual potential of animals and to provide early diagnosis of disease states, to reduce drug use. Many of the traditional systems are not compatible with information technologies, since they only measure and display milk quantities, furthermore, they can't store and gather this information. "Can Precision Agriculture practices be integrated with milking devices?" Based on this question, a system has been designed and developed in compliance with Precision Agriculture principles and requirements in the areas where traditional milk measurement devices are insufficient. In this system we designed, the data measured during milking is transferred to the Raspberry Pi device, which is configured as a server wirelessly via a microcontroller, then incoming data is recorded in MySQL database. A request is sent to the Raspberry Pi used as a server through the Andorid Volley library, while answered requests are transferred to the Android device. This data can be accessed both via Raspberry Pi and via smartphones or mobile devices with Android Operating System connected to the same network. As the data can be seen instantly during milking, the total milk amount and average milk temperature of one cow or more, within certain dates, can be filtered. All data is transferred to a file in a pdf format, and the necessary information for each cow can be obtained from there.
