Abstract
This report presents an overview of available knowledge, literature and research regarding the different flow mixing mechanisms and their characteristics. It covers existing literature related to vortex flow, it's properties and applications, potential application of Helmholtz's theorem, numerical and investigation on fluid mixing behaviour in flow with different combinations of vortex. In many engineering applications where ever mixing of the two or more fluid stream are achieved, it is desired to have shorter mixing length. Higher turbulence level is one mechanism to achieve shorter flow mixing length. But total pressure loss associated with higher turbulence is crucial and undesired. In present work, it is tried to achieve the stream wise mixing of different fluid with the help of various vortex systems. In this approach it is found that local intense turbulence intensity is low and hence lead to lower total pressure drop
