Abstract

The article presents the main trends of developing the meanings of the word god (Iran, Ukrainian and Sanskrit borrowings): 1) god as a giver of good and riches; 2) god as fright, surprise, fear, connected with relevant noise and sounds; 3) god as a thunderstorm, a thunder; 4) god as a devil, a ghost. It’s necessary to replace the word god with a neutral, appropriate word with a positive meaning.
