Abstract
This article makes an attempt to explore the causes of ‘technology obsolescence' and identifies the various factors contributing to it. Further, the authors re-visit the advantages and disadvantages of ‘technology obsolescence' in addition to assessing the impact of obsolescence on the depreciation of desktop computers in organizations. The authors primarily depended on primary data and used a set of well-structured interview questions in order to collect responses from the sample respondents. This qualitative approach helped them to gather primary data that were mostly textual in nature. The data were analyzed using ‘Content Analysis' with the help of NVivo and WordStat software. Our findings suggest that there are measures that enterprises could initiate to better manage the obsolescence of desktop computers and extend their useful life so that the return on the investments (ROI) generated are higher.
