COPING STRATEGIES: ISSUES AND PREFERENCES AMONGST SINGLE MOTHERS IN TERENGGANU, MALAYSIA

Abstract
This study aimed to examine some issues and preferences amongst single mothers in coping with their life survival in Terengganu Malaysia. Using a survey-based study, the questionnaire was distributed to 233 single mothers. Single mothers involved in this study were selected based on the purpose of sampling following the inclusion and exclusion criteria. A questionnaire was used to study the strategies of action used, and the Brief Cope Inventory questionnaire. The results of the questionnaire were analyzed using descriptive analysis by looking at the mean value of each action strategy. The study found that religious values are the most commonly applied in their coping strategies compared to other approaches including withdrawal behaviors.
