Abstract
Asset management of the mosque as an effort of development should be put in control in order to have a well-practiced reference. This study is aimed to examine the role of mosque's asset management in Indonesia as a form of financial independence and an effort to optimize the mosque's entrepreneurial activity. This research used qualitative approach with descriptive case study method. The technique of data collection used purposive sampling to select informants. The data was collected by open observation, documentation, and semi-structured interview. This research applied triangulation in checking data validity. The results showed that the asset management in the mosque in Surabaya has been running in accordance with the management functions of planning, organizing, implementing, and controlling which results financial independence in the mosque. Appropriate asset management is a pillar of mosque independence. Optimal entrepreneurial activity accompanied by professional mosque management can put a stop to the dependency chain on government assistance
