Abstract
The dairy sector plays a vital role in the development of rural economy of India. It provides milk and milk products for household consumption, improve agricultural productivity by providing manure, draught power, generate employment opportunities for small and marginal farmers, and create a source for additional income for people in both urban and rural areas. In context of Odisha the Diary Farming activities play a very crucial role in providing employment and income for the rural poor as well as improving the dairy sector. The study is an attempt to understand the growth of dairy sectors in Odisha after the establishment of OMFED as on date. Role of OMFED has been analyzed in this paper with respect to Physical achievement which include establishment of Dairy cooperative societies, growth in membership, increase in milk procurement and marketing, provision of extension services, and financial achievements over the years after its inception till 2017-18 in Odisha. Further regression model was designed for milk sale and the different independent variable i.e Milk procurement, Membership, No of DC organized and Milk Producers Union
