E-LEARNING IN SCHOOLS DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC IN RURAL AREAS

Abstract
Online learning or e-learning has become an integral part of education due to covid-19 pandemic. But India's decision of shifting education to online mode is questionable taking into consideration the technological and manpower preparedness of the nation in rural areas. The present paper is designed to study the effectiveness and challenges of e-learning in rural areas during the covid-19 pandemic. Descriptive survey method is adopted for the study. Self-designed questionnaire is used for collection of data. The study is conducted on 50 government high schools of Baksa district of the state of Assam in India. The findings of the study reveal that e-learning is a huge challenge for rural schools with lack of e-learning resources, skilled ICT teachers, and so on
