Abstract
The main objective of this research was to determine the impact of some macroeconomic variables on the unemployment rates in Iraq. And attempt estimating the relationship between the unemployment and the most important economic variables affecting on them in Iraq during the period (1990-2017), depending on the program Eviews9, using dynamic models Vector Auto Regressive (VAR) model, which allows us to detect the dynamic interactions between unemployment and explanatory variables. The study reached the most important factors that affect unemployment rates in Iraq, which is the rate of economic growth without oil, public spending, total population, oil prices, and investment spending. The study also showed that oil in Iraq provides resources and does not provide work, just as the study results indicated a weak fiscal policy in influencing the unemployment rate and the failure of monetary policy to alleviate this phenomenon in Iraq
