Abstract
On August 30, 2019, Finance Minister of India unveiled a plan that will merge 10 public sector banks into 4 big banks. This will also result in bringing down the number of public sector banks from 27 to 12. This merger is expected to create fewer and stronger banks. The aim of this merger is to revive the Indian economy which has showed a GDP growth rate of around 4.5% in the second quarter of the financial year 2019-20. The present study aims to study the financials of all the 10 banks which will be merged in future using CAMELS Rating System which is an internationally recognised rating system.
