Abstract

The relationship between the rate of incidence for ketosis seen in the livestock enterprises providing caring and nutrition in the center and districts of Ardahan province and the care-nutrition conditions of the breeders was tried to be revealed with this study through survey evaluations. The material of the study consists of data obtained from face-to-face survey conducted with 97 breeders owning livestock enterprise/herd and observations. As a result of the study, the rate of incidence for subclinical and clinical ketosis at the level of enterprise was determined as 22.7% (22/97). In the analyzes, it was revealed that milk yield in animals with ketosis decreases significantly (P <0.01). On the other hand, it was found that while the average milk yield of a healthy herd is 11.14 kg in the grazing season, this number decreases by 15.2% in the herd with ketosis to 9.45 kg and while the average milk yield of a healthy herd is 5.81 kg in the dormant season, it decreases by 24.3% in the herd with ketosis to 4.40 kg. Although there was no statistically significant relationship in the chi-square analysis conducted within the scope of the study, it was found that while ketosis is not observed in 68.8% (11/16) of enterprises notifying that they give additives to the animals in the grazing season, it is seen in 31.2% (5/16) of them. As a result, it was determined that the enterprises in Ardahan province do not have sufficient knowledge about ketosis and the animals are not fed enough outside of the pasture.
