Abstract
This article is dedicated to Dr. Viktor Platonovych Petrov (V. Domontovych) (1894-1969) worldview. He was a prominent Ukrainian thinker, scientist, science organizer, teacher, doctor of philology, professor, and writer in the twentieth century. This is the first study of Dr. Petrov worldview. This topic is also important in the context of the philosophical problem of unity between faith and reason, as well as faith and science. The research is based on the analysis of specific reliablefacts of V. Petrov's biography: his family background, education, pedagogical work, scientific and fiction writing. The formation of Viktor Petrov Christian worldview was influenced by his family, classical education, vocation to science, and traits of his character. Professor Petrov considered himself mostly as a scientist – Viktor Platonovych Petrov. Only part of his scientist personality was fictionwriter – V. Domontovych. That was a reason why in all his fiction writing he added historiosophic thoughts and topics of his historic research. That was his original style. In his fight against modern materialism, Dr. Petrov created Christian based historiosophy theory of history as mankind existence. He called it historiosophy of history. It became methodology for his research of history. It is developed for European civilization periodization and differs from other existing theories, in particular, from Marxist theory of formations, and the Soviet periodizationof history associated with historical and dialectical materialism. Dr.Petrov historiosophy of history became his contribution to the Word thought. It proves the possibility of unity between science and faith in God. Dr. Petrov historiosophy reflects his worldview that defined his personality. During his life in USSR he kept his historiosophy methodology in scientific research, as well as Christian worldview. This was hidden between lines because of specifics of Soviet reality and his creative style in scientific and fictional writing. He was a man ofmemory and time, because of his Christian worldview.
