Abstract

An attempt was made to analyze biographical pragmatics (in particular, models of biographic reconstruction) using typical examples of Ukrainian biographical publications fiction and non-fiction for children 2014–2020, which represent the most common strategies for domestic biographical writing (The Publishing House "IRIO", The Old Lion Publishing House, "Vydavnytstvo", Nelli Topskaia, Kristina Lukashchuk, etc.). With the growing personalization of life (caused by multiculturalism, informatization, the rapid change of value systems), the need for personalized samples for any occasion is increasing, which contributes to the popularity of biographical knowledge. An attempt was made to identify typical features of modern Ukrainian biographical picture books, biographical prose, synthetic reference books for children and adolescents. A marked dominance of the illustrative series and the motivating component of the biography is noted. Publication can be organized in the form of a narrative or a "clip". But always it is already a motivating, and not a didactic model of biographical reconstruction. The authors create a dialogue situation for the reader when he is forced to actively search for meanings, perceiving himself as a unit of biographical discourse comparable to the character. Thus, he gains biographical experience, and not only receives aesthetic or intellectual pleasure or studies new things. However, in the book for younger schoolchildren, still pragmatic documentary narratives coexist with romanticized and fantastic ones. The principles for choosing characters in the biographical book for children and adolescents have also changed. The amount of information about women, modern youth idols, outstanding scientists, church leaders, as well as Ukrainians who have become famous outside the country, and representatives of national communities of Ukraine has significantly increased.
