Abstract
One of the primary sources of ArcGIS geoprocessing function is datasets. In ArcGIS, these geospatial datasets are contained within the geodatabase. There are three well-known methods used to create a geodatabase namely ArcGIS Python scripting, Model Builder and traditional approach. Certainly, most of the GIS end users are familiar with traditional approach. There are other fascinating options to accomplish the same task in a better and time saving way. Even though shape files are the alternative for geospatial datasets, it has several limitations depending on the nature of the project. In this Paper, a comparative study of creating geodatabase methods and procedures are carried out and discussed in detail in order to help the end users and GIS beginners to understand the significance of different methods adopted
