Abstract

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) integration in education is the use of technology tools in teaching and learning general content subjects. The integration of technology in education originated from a constructivist philosophy of education where learners actively construct their knowledge. Integrating technology in education has many benefits for both teachers and their students. These include motivating students to learn, allowing for great differentiation among students promoting both independent work and team work and increasing the teacher's efficiency in lesson preparation and content delivery. The present paper tries to find out the influence of integration of Information and Communication Technologies in Secondary School Education through a survey among 300 students studying in different secondary schools of Thiruvananthapuram District of Kerala State, India by conducting interview with 30 Teachers of those institutions. A Questionnaire was used for collecting data from students and An Interview Schedule was used for Teachers in getting data on the feasibility of information and communication technology integration in the academic achievement of students. The Study reveals that the use of information and communication technology in learning/teaching has a very positive influence on student's learning capabilities.
