Abstract
An attempt has been made to join Duplex stainless steel using Linear Friction welding (LFW) process. In this investigation Finite element analysis (FEM) was carried on a square butt joint configuration for various conditions. The process parameters chosen are friction load, forging load, friction time, forging time and frequency. Among the above mentioned process parameters, friction force alone was varied as it was found to be more significant to obtain a good bonding. The FEM analysis revealed that 600 N of friction load imparted minimum deformation and in real time experimentation a good bonding was established.
