Abstract
Several important aspects, advances as well as setbacks, of 20th-century American BNCT research are clarified. The potential usefulness of BSSB for BNCT of malignant brain tumors, which was suspected in the1960s and demonstrated experimentally during the1980s and early 1990s but never tested clinically, are recalled.
