Abstract

Raspberry Pi is a credit card sized computer which is widely used to run high end hardware such as 3d printers, long range surveillance drones, network monitor etc. Due to its low cost and open source software, it is very popular among DIY creators and scholars trying out the intoxicating field of IOT. There are a lot of good websites with tutorials to learn about the RPi and a great community of people who are always happy to help anyone having trouble with RPi. In this paper, procedure to setup hardware and software to use Raspberry Pi 3 B to and its use as an internet surveillance camera. There will be no need to setup any kind of port forwarding and these are hassle free and easy to follow step-by-step instructions for full setup and running the surveillance camera. First operating system is uploaded on the SD card for the Raspberry Pi. Then Raspberry Pi will be accessed without a screen or keyboard/mouse via SSH (Secure Shell). Thereafter Raspberry Pi screen will be retrieved on pc without any additional screen or hardware. Following that video streaming from RPi camera will be performed using camera web server. At last dataplicity application agent on Raspberry Pi will be installed and by using dataplicity website from anywhere on the internet without any port forwarding, camera web server will be accessed. At last we will setup dataplicity Application agent on Raspberry Pi and access the camera server on the dataplicity website from anywhere on the internet without any port forwarding. Finally, interfacing of internet surveillance camera with Raspberry Pi is achieved in cost effective manner.
