Abstract
The signal transmitted to the satellite transponder is affected by many factors. The fundamental way to achieve a reliable message decoding from the signals with very low ratio of energy per bit to the spectral noise density (????????????????β????????0) is the use of effective channel coding methods. The current satellite communication systems adopt Turbo codes and Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) codes as a FEC subsystem, because these represent optimal techniques due to their unique properties and can achieve very low bit error rates for low ????????????????β????????0 applications. In this paper, we present a robust serial concatenation of LDPC and turbo codes which has demonstrated better efficiency for satellite communication in the multipath environment and over noisy channels. The concatenated code performance has been investigated for serial and parallel turbo code structures in the uplink transmission.
