Gücün Kötüye Kullanımı Bağlamında Cinsel İstismara Genel Bir Bakış/An Overview of Sexual Abuse in the Context of the Abuse of Power

Sexual abuse occurs all over the world regardless of many factors such as location, occupation, socio-economic and educational status, language, religion, race and status of the victim and the perpatrator. Many literature studies emphasize that sexual abuse is associated with power and hierarchy, not sexuality. The present study is presented in order to provide an overview of sexual abuse cases arising from power relations. Due to the relationship between the victim and the offender and the power-balance, these types of sexual abuses, which are relatively less reflected in judicial processes, often turn into black numbers. Accordingly, there are difficulties in reaching general statistical data and they are encountered more as case studies in the literature. In the present study, based on various hierarchical relationships in society, it is aimed to present an overview of sexual abuse behavior towards the one lower than the higher position and where the concept of 'power' arising from the hierarchical link is directly seen. In this context, in addition to relations such as employee-employer, student-school staff, patient-healthcare personnel, incest is also addressed within the scope of domestic sexual violence. In addition, within the scope of the study, taking into account the fact that the relevant abuses occur within various institutions, sexual abuse was also evaluated as institutional abuses seperatly
