Abstract
The present article deals with the peculiarities of pre-election communication, the structural elements of which correlate with the components of political discourse but have their own specificity conditioned by necessity of responsive changes of intention and communicative aims of the addresser and ways of their realization during presidential election campaign. The main objective of the research is to reveal ethno-specific features of the South Ossetia political communication and one of its most significant indicators - role distribution of functions in particular, which presupposes traditional distribution of roles, a fixed order of actions defined by relevance of the participantʼs status and the system of social relations. As genres of political events, meetings with the voters and debates reflect political traditions, ideology, ethic values of national culture
