Abstract
This paper presents a proposed and applicable optimization algorithm based on the evolutionary algorithm to solve an environemental and economic Dispatch (EED) problem. This problem is seen like a bi-objective optimization problem where fuel cost and gaz emission are objectives .in this method, the optimal Pareto front is found using the concept of corridor observation and the best compromised solution is obtained by fuzzy logic. The feasibility of this method is demonstrated using power systems with three generation units, and it is compared with the other evolutionary methods of Optimization Toolbox of Matlab in terms of solution quality and CPU time. The simulated results showed that the proposed method is indeed capable of obtaining higher quality solutions in shorter computational time compared to other evolutionary methods. In addition the other advantage is that our approach solve in the same time a unit commitment problem and it can used with n-generation units.
