Abstract
This article reveals the symbolic and axiological essence of idioms containing the numerical nominators three as the embodiment of the concept of number in Russian, Ossetian and English linguocultures. The universal and ethnocultural in the picture of the world is most clearly manifested in paremiology with a numerical component. The objects under analysis are Russian, Ossetian, English idioms. The aim of the study is a cognitive, linguistic and cultural analysis of phraseological units and the identification of national characteristics in the interpretation of the number semantics in the Russian, Ossetian and English language pictures of the world. The cognitive characteristics of the internal form of the number in three languages distinguish certain features of the mentality of a certain people and the national character of the language personality. A comparative study of idioms is connected with the implementation of intercultural dialogue of representatives of various linguocultural communities
