THE INFLUENCE OF INTERNATIONAL LAW ON A WOMEN’S STATUS IN AZERBAIJAN

Azerbaijan has its own history of constitution and gender equality. The article presents a legal analysis of women's rights in Constitutions of Azerbaijan, as well as the main women rights described in the legislation of the Azerbaijan Republic adopted on the basis of the existing Constitution. The first legal acts of constitutional nature were adopted within 1918–1920. It has been passed the Constitution of Azerbaijan SSR in 1921, 1937 and 1978 after the establishment of the Soviet ruling. All rights and freedoms of women were based on Soviet ideology. In the history of our state, the first Constitution of a sovereign Azerbaijan has been adopted on 12th of November, 1995. The present Constitution of the Azerbaijan Republic is based on new conception of gender eduality. Here, ensuring the equality of men and women is the main goal of the state. The achievement of equality between women and men and the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women are fundamental human rights. women throughout the world regularly suffer from violations of their human rights throughout their lives, and the realization of women's human rights has not always been a priority. Achieving equality between women and men requires a comprehensive understanding of how women face discrimination, and they are denied equality in order to develop appropriate strategies to eliminate such discrimination. The basic rights of women enshrined in the legislative acts of the Republic of Azerbaijan, adopted on the basis of international legal acts, as well as fundamental principles of women's policy in the country and its raising to the state level have been covered in the present article. The historical and legal analysis of formation and development of the status of the woman in Azerbaijan has been carried in order to achieve the purposes of this research.
