Abstract
This article deals with the study of the population of background species of small mammals in the zones of technogenic pollution in the Central Caucasus, to identify changes in the complex of coenotic, population and morphophysiological parameters, as well as the possibility of their use for practical solutions to the problems of biomonitoring. This is due to the fact that only bioecological monitoring allows us to obtain integral characteristics of the quality of the environment and give a resulting assessment of the extent to which this environment is suitable for human life, in which it is biologically part of the living nature.
