Abstract
The article considers the socio-economic characteristics of rural development. The relationship between the development of rural areas and the level of economic security of the state is investigated. It was found that the socio-economic development of rural areas is an important component of ensuring the economic security of Ukraine. The main features of the development of border rural areas are considered. The factors of influence on the formation of economic security in the border rural areas are identified and characterized. The destabilizing tendencies of socio-economic development of the border rural areas are identified and the probability of influence on the level of economic security is justified. In particular, the probability of threats to the economic security of the state due to imperfect development of rural territories is justified. The strategic priorities of strengthening the economic security of the state on the basis of intensifying the development processes of border rural areas are identified. The relationship between the development of rural territories of border regions and economic security is determined. The direction of the development of bordering rural areas in the context of ensuring economic security in Ukraine is proposed, which should take into account the multi-hierarchical interests of bordering rural areas and include «multicenter» management with mandatory consideration of the principles of vertical and horizontal coordination of management measures to stimulate development and counter challenges. A model of socio-economic transformation of border rural areas has been developed in terms of stimulating the process of cross-border cooperation in the context of ensuring economic security. The main points of growth of barriers in the cross-border region in the context of globalization, which slow down the development of rural areas and prevent the formation of economic security, are highlighted. Priority directions for the development of border rural areas and strengthening economic security are proposed.
