Abstract
This quantitative correlational study examined the impact of rectors' leadership styles on the motivation of educators in private secondary schools of Mauritius. The respondents included 140 educators from 11 private secondary schools of Mauritius selected through stratified random sampling. The tool of the study for data collection was a closed-ended questionnaire and SPSS version 23 was used for data analysis through Mean, Standard Deviation, Pearson Correlation, and ANOVA. The independent variables were the leadership styles of rectors while the dependent variable was the motivation of educators at work. The results reveal that the educators attributed the highest mean score to the statements about their good relationship with people at work followed by their ability to learn interesting new skills on the job and their input in decision making to get their job done. The highest correlation exists between motivation and democratic leadership styles followed by authoritarian and laissez-faire styles. There was a significant difference between levels of teacher motivation employed in private secondary schools of four different zones of Mauritius.
