Abstract

The present study focused on the investigation of work-related stress and its effect on teachers' performance at secondary level. The objectives of the study were to identify the main work-related stressor among the secondary school teacher, to analyze the effect of work-related stressor on teachers' performance. Descriptive survey research design was used. Time management, professional distress, discipline of students and administration support is independent variable while social interaction, psychological factor and teacher techniques are the dependent factor of teacher's performance. The population is comprised of all secondary school level in public and private schools of hazara division. A sample of 400 teachers (200 females & 200 male) was collected by using Stratified random sampling technique. Two questionnaires, one for stresses like Time management, Professional distress, discipline of student and administration support) and the second for teacher's performance (social interaction, psychological factors and teacher technique) were developed for the present study. The data was analyzed through mean, standard deviation, and regression analysis. Results of the study showed that Time management, professional distress, discipline of students and administration were the main work-related stressors of the teachers and they have negative effect on teacher's performance
