Abstract
A car DVR (Digital Video Recorder) or a dashboard camera mounted on a vehicle is used to acquire a video of a traffic accident, but there is an area that is not recorded due to the dead angle of the camera. Therefore, this paper proposes the cooperative car digital video recording and communication system to solve the dead angle problem of the legacy dashboard cameras by acquiring multi-angle video data using V2I technology in vehicular networks. One of the newly defined function modules in the proposed system is CCDVR, which not only generates an accident video in case of a vehicle accident but also transmits it to the traffic monitoring server. When a traffic accident occurs, not only the CCDVRs of the accident vehicles but also the CCDVRS of the surrounding vehicles located around the accident site generate their own accident videos for the accident and transmit them to the traffic monitoring server, so that multiple videos from various angles for a single accident can be obtained. Experimental results show that the proposed system can be a good solution to analyze accident situations more accurately based on the collected multi-angle video data in vehicular networks.
