Abstract
Karnataka state has gained the model state status in terms of social transformation and economic progress of weaker sections of society on the basis of the monumental works of eminent saints and statesmen like Basava, Nalvadi Krishna Raja Vodeyar, Devaraj Urs, Basavalingappa, Ramakrishna Hegde, Abdul Nazeer Sab, Siddaramaiah and others. Karnataka has also witnessed several progressive movements including Dalit movement over a period of time
