COMPETENCY AND ADAPTATION OF LIFE INSURANCE AGENTS: DIRECTIONS AND TRENDS

This research aimed to examine an adaptation approach and to propose competency development program for life insurance agents in the context of changing directions and trends. The constructivism paradigm is the main paradigm that is applied in this research, documented surveys are used to formulate research and content analysis is also conducted to provide guideline for the implementation for actual action. The study results showed that with the direction and trend of changing environment, life insurance agents need to take the leap forward as i-insurance agent, a new breed of insurance agent with capability to use technologies and information technology tools in providing services and creating a better life insurance experience in ‘new normal' approach for people or customers. Moreover, life insurance agents, apart from their compliance with professional standards of work and ethics in offering insurance products, have to engage in self-adjustment; enhance their knowledge competencies; and develop their skills in response to ‘new normal' environment. The technologies are applied in the life insurance product sale process to facilitate and fasten the people's access to insurance system
