Abstract
Adsorption of Congo Red dye (CR) onto Commercial Activated Carbon (CAC) from aqueoussolution was investigatedundervariousexperimentalconditions.Batchmode experimentswereconducted. The pHzpc of CAC was 6. Hence all experiments were carried out at solution pH 6. Experimental data were fitted with linearised forms of Lagergren and Ho kinetic equations for pseudo first order and pseudo second order models respectively. Rate constants and theoretical adsorption capacities were calculated. The SumofErrorSquares Percentage (SSE %) for first order and second order kinetics were 3.57 7.05 respectively and hence this adsorption followed first order kinetics. Adsorption capacities of CAC, estimated from equilibrium studiesfor different initialconcentrations ofadsorbate were found to be good.
