Abstract

This paper presents a competent method for improvement of voltage profile in power distribution networks by effective deployment of solar photovoltaic electric vehicle charging stations (SPV-EVCSs). Before approaching voltage error optimization, voltage sensitivity analysis is accomplished to identify potential buses for SPV-EVCS integration. An optimization problem is formulated to minimize bus voltage deviations by correlating active and reactive power variations in system buses. Powell particle swarm optimization (PPSO) technique, an enhanced version of the traditional particle swarm optimization (PSO) method, is applied for finding the effective deployment of SPV-EVCSs. The backward forward sweep method (BFSM) for power flow computation is adopted in association with PPSO. Usefulness of the proposed method for the deployment of SPV-EVCSs under bi-functional, i.e. generation and load modes is validated in IEEE 69-bus radial distribution system and the results are presented
