Abstract
The present work deals with the optimization problem, for finding the optimum gear ratios to get the minimum cost of a two-step helical gearbox. To do that, a simulation experiment was designed and conducted by a computer program. Also, nine input factors including the total gearbox ratio , the weel face width coefficients of both steps ( and ), the permissible contact stresses of the first and the second steps ( and ), the output torque , the gearbox house cost , the gear cost , and the shaft cost were selected to explore their effect on the optimum gear ratio of the first step . Besides, a regression model to calculate was found with highly suited to the experimental results.
