Women and fourth authority. Wincentyna Teska and Anna Krzycka – contribution to history in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship

Abstract

Article describes two pioneers women of modern Polish press. WincentynaTeskowa (1888-1957) with her husband Janem Teską founded of printing houseat difficult annexation time in 1907 in Bydgoszcz, in wich Polish "Dziennik Bydgoski" developed. Daily magazine in very germanized city played culture-forming and repolonization role. During the First World War Wincentyna Teska rana publishing house on her one. She employed writers, polish language and history teachers – Melania Gońska, Stefania Tuchołkowa. "Dziennik Bydgoski" focused its attention on reminding the Polish language. The editors reminded about historic anniversaries important to Poles. The novels of prominent writers – Henryk Sienkiewicz, Wincenty Pol, Maria Konopnicka – were printed in episodes. "Dziennik Bydgoski" encouraged people to join Polish choirs, the "Sokół" gymnastic society, and amateur theaters. In the difficult years 1918-1920 for Bydgoszcz, when the fate of the city was decided (it will be in the German or Polish state), "Dziennik Bydgoski" contributed to supporting the independence activities. In the interwar period, "Dziennik Bydgoski" continued to support national and patriotic attitudes. It was in the top ten best sold daily magazines in Poland. Anna Krzycka (1910–1991) editor chief and co-editor of "Moja Przyjaciółka" is pioneer of Polish lifestyle magazines. In the early 1930s with her husband Alfred Krzycki she created powerful prass in small Żnin in Pałuki as an exaple of "american dream" fulfilment. The magazine's success is based on constant contact with readers and a clear division into sections. The readers' questions were answered in great detail. They could also exchange advice them selves on the pages of "Moja Przyjaciółka". Anna Krzycka edited the magazine and wrote articles herself. Memory of both heroes in places where they worked is different. Żnin remembers about Anna i Alfred Krzycki marriage, Bydgoszcz doesn't commemorate Wincentyna Teksowa in any way.
