Abstract
Hospitality Industry is one of the oldest trade endeavors in the world. One of the fastest growing sectors of the economy of our time is the hotel industry. The hotel industry alone is a multi-billion dollar and growing enterprise. The most important source for the success of the hotel business is their valuable employees. The efficient and effective performance of an employee is the building block for the success of hotel business. The employees who work effectively and perform well, shows that they are satisfied with their job. Training of the employees is a vital aspect for the hotel industries to be competitive and achieve sustained profitability. Training and development of manpower is a prerequisite for any organization that wants to achieve maximum productivity through the efficient and effective performance of employees. It becomes more important for hotel industry where human resource is the biggest asset and employees play a vital role in guest satisfaction as people are serving to people in hotel industry. The purpose of this paper was to investigate through the perception of employees about the current training practices adopted in Five–star hotel organizations in Chennai City and their effect on the performance of the employees.
