Qulification system for librarian personnel of the Vasyl Stefanyk National Scientific Library of Ukraine in Lviv

The transformation of professional values and consciousness of the library community in the period of social changes affecting the mission of the library, its social functions, the choice of approaches to the formation of library and information resources and user service, the development of library technologies and staff, the modernization of traditional and development of new directions of activity are outlined. It is emphasized that the successful functioning of the library as an information center obliges library specialists to respond quickly and adequately to changes in information needs of users, to improve forms of service, to provide highquality information consultations, to expand the range of library and information services – all these require systematic study of the latest information technology. The main directions of professional development of library staff are highlighted. The description of the advanced training system at the Vasyl Stefanyk National Scientific Library of Ukraine in Lviv is presented as a set of interrelated forms of education organized for all categories of library workers and conducted in sequence and with a certain periodicity, based on the principles of systematicity, heredity, variability, from the audience and their level. It is emphasized that improving the social status of the library requires proper professional level of employees, involvement of high-class professionals, creation of favorable working conditions for them in an innovative market environment.
