USING DISTANCE AND ONLINE TECHNOLOGIES IN LEARNING: EXPERIENCE AND PROSPECTS

Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of experience and prospects of using distance and online teaching/learning technologies in the modern education system. The main components of distance learning, its advantages and disadvantages are described. Based on the analysis of technologies used in distance teaching/learning, a conclusion was made about the need for wider use of virtual and augmented reality, adaptive learning, the model of «inverted classroom», artificial intelligence, «Internet of things», big data analytics and more. Modern forms of distance learning used in the world's leading universities have been studied. The article emphasizes that the most developed and widely used forms of distance learning are mass open online courses and blended learning, and the most popular are the platforms Udacity, Coursera, edX and others. It is summarized that Ukrainian universities need to use the most successful international practices of distance and online teaching/learning, as well as to develop their own distance materials and technologies to maintain competitiveness in the education market.
