Abstract

In this paper, the researcher explores the ways Mathew Arnold has aesthetically embroidered images in his poems. Imagery is an ornament that a poet decorates his poems with, and inspires sensory perception within a reader's mind. Metaphysical poet Mathew Arnold very magically uses words to produce sounds and images. The poet uses all poetic techniques from connotative diction to metaphor, from similes to onomatopoeia, from metonymy to alliteration.
