Normatively-legal Basis of the Library’s Interaction of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. History of Formation

The formation of the library network of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine is inseparable from the development of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences. The activity of the libraries of scientific institutions was constantly in the view of the Academy, and a number of decisions were taken on improving the network libraries. The international book exchange as an important source of centralized acquisition of the libraries of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine by foreign literature for many years has been highlighted. With the independence of Ukraine, the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine took measures to improve the status of providing scientific institutions with new foreign publications.The National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine has repeatedly considered the issue of cooperation between branch academies of sciences and thecoordination of the work of their library and information networks. The current development and functioning of the network of libraries of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine is directed by the Information and Library Council of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Council). According to the Council's decision, organizational and methodological documents were developed. Activities of libraries were regularly heard at the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Today, the role of the Information Library Council in the organization of a new model of interaction between libraries of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine needs to be strengthened.
