Relationship between increasing turnover in the ports of Ukraine with the development of transport infrastructure

Abstract

Introduction. The article is devoted to the study of the relationship between increasing the turnover in the ports of Ukraine with the development of transport infrastructure. This pattern determines the task of developing shipowners' structures according to certain criteria. At the same time, the scale of Ukraine's economic relations with other countries needs constant expansion and directly depends on the development of sea and river transportation and the improvement of ports, their competitiveness. Purpose. Global processes that ensure the formation of parameters of the maritime trade market are becoming a regularity. Results. The paper considers global trends in the development of the maritime industry, presents indicators of transshipment of export cargo in ports during January–March 2018–2020, as well as strategic priorities for the development of Ukraine as a maritime state. Considered the relevance of the use of ship types that must meet the requirements of both river and sea navigation, the main problems that have developed in this area in recent years, highlighted the main causes of their occurrence, and identified the main trends in the transport industry. A detailed analysis of the activities of sea and river ports in Ukraine over the past four years has shown that the industry is moving in a certain direction. Reducing costs and reducing capital investment risks play an important role in achieving operating productivity gains. Trends and direction of further development of the industry are considered. As a result of analytical researches conclusions are made and three conditions of development of a commodity flow on river ways are allocated. Conclusions. The article analyzes the use of the RIS system, which is one of the main tasks of the development of cargo transportation, because water transport is one of the cheapest types of cargo delivery. It is clear that these systems with regard to inland waterways, in terms of ensuring the safety of navigation, should primarily carry information for navigators about all floating objects within line of sight, not just transit vessels. The prospect of further research is to make a full analysis of the work of the RIS structure.
